Two-Factor Authentication
How to enable and manage two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Doughsense account. Set up TOTP and manage recovery codes.
3 min read
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Doughsense account. When enabled, you'll need both your password and a verification code from an authenticator app to sign in.
We strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication to protect your financial data. It only takes a minute to set up.
How to Enable 2FA
- Sign in to Doughsense at app.doughsense.com
- Go to Settings > General
- Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
- Open your authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password)
- Scan the QR code displayed on screen
- Enter the 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app
- Save your recovery codes in a secure location
Recovery codes are the only way to access your account if you lose your authenticator device. Store them somewhere safe, such as a password manager or a printed copy kept securely.
Signing In with 2FA
Once enabled, signing in requires two steps:
- Enter your email and password as usual
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
The code changes every 30 seconds, so enter the current one displayed in your app.
Recovery Codes
When you enable 2FA, you'll receive a set of one-time recovery codes. Each code can only be used once.
What Are Recovery Codes?
Recovery codes are backup codes that let you sign in if you can't access your authenticator app. They're essential for account recovery.
How to Use a Recovery Code
- On the sign-in screen, enter your email and password
- When prompted for your 2FA code, choose Use a recovery code
- Enter one of your unused recovery codes
- You'll be signed in successfully
Regenerating Recovery Codes
If you've used most of your recovery codes or suspect they've been compromised:
- Go to Settings > General
- Click Regenerate Recovery Codes
- Save the new codes in a secure location
Regenerating recovery codes immediately invalidates all previous codes. Make sure to update your stored copies.
How to Disable 2FA
- Go to Settings > General
- Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication
- Confirm your decision
Locked Out?
If you've lost access to both your authenticator app and your recovery codes:
- Check for unused recovery codes. Look in your password manager, notes, or anywhere you may have saved them
- Contact support. Email support@doughsense.com/a> with your account email address. We'll verify your identity and help you regain access
To avoid being locked out, always keep your recovery codes in a secure but accessible location, and consider setting up your authenticator app on more than one device.
